Default Wanted : USB AV/PC-2 Cable

Can anyone help with this item, it's a dual USB, A/V cable for the E-410, E-510, see this link,

    https://emporium.olympus.com/innards...sku=202069-410

Apparently it's a third-party item, available only from Olympus Emporium who won't ship off-shore !!

I would really like one, to allow using the E-410 live view plus remote control for astrophotography.

    Thanks,
    Alec

    Hi Alec,
As a last resort I wouldn't mind buying it for you and shipping it to you, provided it doesn't end up costing me. Shipping probably would add a significant amount to the small price of the item, but if its something you really need then perhaps the shipping cost would be justified. Anyway, just keep it in mind - I may even be able to round up a discount code for free shipping from Olympus Emporium to my residence, then you'd just have to pay for the item plus shipping overseas.

    Thank you Tim,

I've been offered a spare USB and A/V cable, so I'll try to open up one plug and wire both cables into it. (Talk about micro-surgery !).

I'll let you know how it goes.

    Cheers,
    Alec

    Thank you Richard,

    I've bookmarked that thread.
Maybe I should look at wiring up the remote shutter release to the same plug, while I'm at it.

    Cheers,
    Alec

    Richard,

The diagram of the pin connections seems to have disappeared from that thread. Is there somewhere else I can find it ?

    Cheers,

Smugmug is blocked from my work so I can't check the thread but I have it at home and will send it tonight. Now having usb, video and remote all in one would be really cool.

    Bojan, Richard

The pictures are all there again, thanks. Don't know who did what or how.

I'm in the process of carefully dismembering the camera plugs on the USB and A/V cables with the intention of combining the wiring all into one. It's looking perfectly feasible. I've got to make some progress pics before proceeding.

Similarly, it looks possible to wire in the cable remote too, though the bundle of cables is going to be a bit bulky and the combined weight is likely to put some strain on the poor little plug and camera socket junction.

    Cheers,
    Alec
