    Default What the ... ?

I just got through downloading 49 photo-files (E-3 to PC via USB) after another late afternoon stroll on the prairie. The E-3 and 14-54 were sitting on the counter top as I extracted the USB; finished, I secured the rubber seal that protects the USB connection, and then just as I began to lift the camera a finger tip bumped into something that ought not to have been there on the countertop, the plastic tip of the lens release button. fficeffice" />>>

Now the spring is exposed and I don't know if it's likely to fall out any time soon. I know I need to send the body back to ffice:smarttags" />lace w:st="on">Olympuslace> (fortunately, still under warranty), but I had plans to return to the prairie for an early morning shoot come sunup. >>

This one's popped up on the forums a couple times now. I'd expect Oly to fix it even it was out of warranty, as it really seems to be a (small) design flaw.

I sure do hope you're right. I'd like to see a non-ferrous alloy being used to replace the part that failed.

I thought I'd seen a thread on an E-3 broken lens release button but when I searched for it I got nothing.

RE: E3 Hacking me off ...

Yes; that would be it. I didn't think to search for "E3 Hacking me off ... "

    It's really quite unsettling.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Me thinks I'll remedy that a.s.a.p.

It happend to me too, but I fixed it by looking carefully how to secure the retainers. A little inside spring induced some more expansion and the thing did not pop out again. I agree, it is a flaw in Oly design!
