Default E1 Broken CF Door catch - How to fix it ?

I have an E1 that came with broken memory door catch - it just spins and no longer operates the lever mechanism to release the door.

I've opened up another one to try and see if there is any way of releasing it, but it appears to be well constructed !
At least I cant see a way.

I know this one been up before, but just wondering if there is an easy way of opening it - one time only (without destruction).
I am happy to insert a card and use the body connections in future on this one, just need to get a CF card inserted in there.

In the past I think the only suggestion was a trip to Olympus Repair.

    Heres hoping.

    Thanks

I think that the only way is to send it in you can break the door, and than use tape to hold it closed?
I don't know if that will work.

The CF card door hinge is inside the back part or the body, you need to open the body to replace it even if you got the parts.

    Thanks Johannes.

    Great Exploded View.
The little catch lever must still be attached, but it is spinning on the keyed shaft.

I can see it will be back to Olympus - I needed it Friday, but neither I nor Olympus will be bale to deal with it by then !

When you see the sheer complexity and quantity of component parts I always wonder how they can build a camera for the price !

    Cheers

    PS - Fixed it
Because of this diagram (and while I was writing this reply), I realised that gravity might have been able to help me open the door, if I tipped the camera upside down - the weight of the tiny latch was enough for it to just (barely) reseat on the damaged catch shaft and after many, many attempts it just caught enough to open it.
This is theory because I can only imagine what is wrong as its all hidden, but judging from the diagram and what was happening that is the only conclusion I could reach.

I dare say that this trick may save a few people some expensive repair bills.
It doesnt fix the problem completely, but at least its open - so you can either retrieve a card or in my case put a card in and use the body connections to download.

In my case I just took a further step. (as I write)
I used some tiny very sharp electronic side cutters to relieve the two plastic parts that catch. Just trimmed the ridges off - (barely 1mm of plastic) and created a new chamfered lead in to the door lock mechanism.

The door now closes and just catches closed but can be opened by hand.
Its not quite as secure as before, nor probably as waterproof - but its fixed !
It feels more like an E500 door now.

    Thanks again Johannes
