    Arrow Pseudo Panorama...

    Jupiter Inlet Light.
Most of my shots of this landmark are made facing North to NorthNorthWest. This was shot facing SSE.

    Default Lighthouse?

    Hi Bill,

Why do they need a lighthouse there, Bill? It seems pretty sunny to me. The sun always shines in South Florida, right? It has something to do your proximity to the Tropic of Cancer or something.

I think, Jim, that it may have something to do with the Gulf Stream...

Well, except at night, or in a hurricane!

Bill, I love the way the clouds pile up like that sometimes, and that lighthouse is a great color to contrast with the sky. I can see why its a subject you return to every once in a while.

    Bill -

Yet another fine view of the Jupiter lighthouse.

BTW: It's just a hunch but I suspect this was shot sometime in the afternoon - since that's when those clouds begin to form in the warm moist air. And when you're fortunate they end up delivering rain, which is sorely needed here in the Sunshine State.

BTW (again): Have you ever considered approaching the 'Coasties' and asked if it would be OK to climb the to the top of the lighthouse to get some photos of the area from there? I know this a a 'post 9-11' world we live in but maybe if you would share your portfolio/website they might permit you to do so.

    Leon,
    Thanks for looking and commenting.
The Lighthouse is open to public tours on certain days so the opportunity to go to the top exists but I don't know if this old guy would make it to the top!

Very dramatic clouds, and I like how there's only a thin trip of green in the foreground. This helps draw attention to them. One suggestion would be to crop out some of the blue sky at the top.

    Cheers,

    Andreas
