    Default High Color

Seemingly almost on top of the world, the volcanic spring brings bright colors to the groundís surface at an elevation of about 7,500 feet. This is my second favorite image from my most recent photo expedition.

WOW. That is a place of amazing beauty, and nicely captured, too. It could almost be titled "Life and Death" or "Heaven and Hell" (trite, but you know what I mean). The composition and the contrast at play between the blacks, blues and whites are really pleasing.

    Another beauty EB!
I like the composition, well balanced.Once again nice soft pastel colors.
From the long shadows, looks like either late afternnon or early moning sun.

I see why that's one of your favorites, Bob! Have you shown us your favorite image yet?

The dead trees add a stark element to the image. They also show that the travertine of the hot springs has expanded over a larger area fairly recently, such that the killed trees are still standing.

Thank you. You're right about the timing. It was 08:42 hours local time. As usual, I'm always onsite to check out the early morning or late afternoon lighting.
    Good shooting,

Thank you. Interesting to see how our minds seem to think in parallel about this place. See my favorite image which I'll post tomorrow.

Thank you. The E-3 with 14-35mm lens are a great combination. They make these images a lot easier to produce.

Thank you. This is one of the few local areas where the hot springs have been expanding over the last several years. Prior to this winter, the area had below normal rainfall for several years so a lower water table may have contrbuted to the decrease in thermal spring activity. No, I haven't posted my favorite image from this expedition yet. I'll do that tomorrow. I did post my third favorite earlier here.
    Good shooting,

Thank you. Well, maybe it's just a matter of perspective. I like to think that I wander around the natural environment documenting what's there. I just happened to discover this scene and am just now showing my record of it.
