    Default Colourful Fulmar

The first bird image I took on my recent Iceland trip:

It shows a couple of fulmars (Fulmarus glacilis) flying in front of the rainbow in the mist of the waterfall at Skogar, southern Iceland.

The photo is taken downward, from the top of the fall, and you can see the black lava rocks in the bottom of the gorge, some 70 meters below, to the left.

    Cheers, Jens.

I'd be happy just to capture the rainbow, Jens, but the birds make it a much better shot!

Could be something wrong with Smugmug before, now I can see the big version. nice shot Jens

It recalls me "ABBA the Movie" when they play the 'Eagles' part.

Thank you everyone for the very positive reception of this photograph. It is very special indeed but it is a matter of seing the shot, not so much taking it.

I think 99.9% (or more) of the visitors to Skogar falls come there and snap the pics of the fall and the scenic outlook (if they bother to ascend...). I did the same at first and in my last "postcard shot" of the fall with rainbow, there happened to be a flying fulmar (they breed up there), and that's when I 'saw' this shot. I'm glad it turned out more or less as I had in mínd.

Also, I tried several lenses and focal lengths and this one with the 14-54 turned out
to be the best (It could just as well have been shot with the 40-150.)

Once again, thanks for showing your appreciation! This will definitely go into my "Best of Iceland" portfolio.

    Cheers, Jens.
