Unlike the E-1 with SHLD-2, where Oly officially mentioned that the grip will speed up AF speed, Oly did not make any such announcements about the E-3 and HLD-4.

no no not the focus.... the processing of the image like a long exposure will it speed that up?

Don't think so. Never heard about anything like that.

Long exposures like you take a shot for 1 minute, than the camera takes a blank frame for 1 minute to map out the noise. So no way to speed up the minute.

As Tony says, a dark frame exposure after a long exposure will take the time it takes even if you hook the E3 up to nuclear reactor. And an HLD-4 will not speed anything else up either, like AF or normal processing. The best and only real solution to speedy processing for normal images is a fast CF card.

So you are either making long exposures or exceeding the buffer capacity, which is it? I suppose if it is long exposure and the normal noise reduction (for better image quality) that is bothering you it is possible to turn noise reduction off.
