Default Help - diaphragm Jammed on 12-60 lens

Out shooting the other day, while I was looking through the viewfinder the diaphragm on my 12-60 (on an E520) shut all the way down, and won't open.

I've upgraded the body software, tried the lens on other bodies, no joy.

    Any ideas??? Please?

Other then hitting the lens to try and shake the blades loose, not really.
    Sounds like a repair job.

Have you tried dialing in f/2.8 or anything else besides fully closed, and hitting the Fn (DOF preview) ? Perhaps that will shake it loose. But even if it does come loose, big chance it'll happen again.

As I watched it stop down, it's not mechanical - although that didn't stop me trying to shake it a couple of times. And yes, have tried all manner of shooting options (changing it in "A" mode, etc etc).

Did you clean the electric contacts on the lens mount ?

Yes. And tried shorting the contacts on the lens (not the body). And tried moving the setting on and off "Reset Lens"

If it's still under warranty, Oly will fix it for sure. Doesn't seem like you used it the wrong way so it must be a manufacture fault.

    Hope things work out ok.

Yes, thanks, I realise that. As much as anything I'm hoping (!!) someone else has had the same experience and it is something that can be fixed in the field.

I'm planning what to take on a trip to China. As I need to travel light I was contemplating just a 520 with the 12-60, now I need to re-think that.
