    Default Alert

This group of Bighorns have just stepped into the open at the bottom of the mountain. They're now scanning the landscape for threats. At the slightest sign of fast movement, unusual noise or other potential danger, they'll scamper back up the the mountainside almost faster than the eye can follow.

Beautiful EB. You sure must be quite. They are looking everywhere but at you and there you are. It's a good thing that's a camera you have in your hands.

Thank you. I captured this at 09:09 hours local time. I'd been there close to three hours already, about 50 meters or so from their water, and I'm sure they spotted me at least an hour earlier from much higher up the mountain. I was moving very little and just before capturing this image had been eating a breakfast of cold cereal. So while keeping an eye on me, I think they just didn't consider me to be a threat. As a matter of fact, I wasn't in a direct line between them and their water and I think they took a bit of a detour to get closer to me for a better look.

Thank you. They have a pretty good pose, but I suspect it was just the result of them positioning themselves to run from me if necessary.

Nice looking sheep Bob. You must have been well hidden to catch them off guard.

Thank you. Actually I was in plain sight but just quiet and patient. They certainly knew I was there but thought I was non threatening.

These gorgeous animals are individually very striking, but in a group they are even more impressive. Nice shot. Glad patience paid off for you.

Thank you. I expect that there are situations where patience works better than any amount of skill.

Well captured, impressively muscled animals. I suppose scampering up and down mountains like they do will do that to you!

As others have said "an excellent shot" . It must be wonderful to live in a area that has so much wildlife! You are very luck and also a great photographer

Thank you. I know scampering up mountains did that for me. Sadly, I haven't backpacked for the last five years.

Thank you. Actually, I live about 1,300 miles from where this picture was taken. I travel 2-4 times per year for the purpose of photography and each trip usually lasts 3-5 weeks during which I live in a tent at or very near the locations I'm shooting. Currently I'm shooting the continental US, Canada and Alaska though in the past I've lived in Europe and Asia and shot those locations.

Thank you. No, I don't really set up a blog or album for public viewing. I just post a few images here and occasionally a couple at DPR for public viewing. I'm a member of some other photo forums but seldom post in them any more.
    Good shooting,
