Default Full focus range of 70-300 telephoto

    Hi,

Maybe this has been discussed earlier but I was not able to find any thread that was similar.

On the 70-300 mm lens that I have, in AF mode, I can rotate the focus ring to match the marking 70, xx, xxx, xxx, 300 on the outer ring. However, the barrel itself has markings beyond the 300 mark and pulls out twice as much. I tried the manual focus mode and I am not able to focus on a picture beyond the 300 mark outer ring [from AF on the barrel] so I would think the sensor is too close to the lens for correct focus. I am wondering if there is a extension tube or some other mechanism that can help me focus beyond the 1:32 mark [I believe] on the barrel.

If none of this is clear, I can provide pictures explaining my predicament!

That is for Macro mode and can only be achieved in manual focus.
