Default Panasonic GF2 on Amazon now

The Panasonic GF2 is now listed on Amazon, its not available for pre-order yet but it does show the various configurations you can get. It's available in black, silver, white or red with either the 14mm f/2.5 lens or the 14-42mm lens.

Pity you can't get it with the 20mm f/1.7 like the GF-1. That's just like Panasonic to introduce their first models with a killer kit lens, then downgrade it for future models... like when the L1 first came out with the Leica 14-50mm f/2.8-3.5 /w OIS, then later brought out the Leica 14-50mm f/3.8-5.6. Apparently it pays to jump on new Panasonic models in their original form if you want the best kit lens without buying them separately.

The GF-2 is due to be released in January, from what I hear...
    Olympus E-3 | Olympus E-PL2 PEN | Olympus E-PM1 PEN | Zuiko ED 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD | Zuiko 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 | Vivitar 100mm f/2.8 Macro | Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135mm f/2.8 | Konica Hexanon 50mm f/1.4 | Konica Hexanon 85mm f/1.8 | G.Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 | Zuiko 35mm f/3.5 Macro | Zuiko 25mm f/2.8 | KMZ Jupiter-3 50mm f/1.5 | E.Zuiko 200mm f/4 | Zuiko 75-150mm f/4 | Olympus EC-14 teleconverter | VF-2 and VF-3 Viewfinders | EMA-1 Mic Adapter | Olympus FL-36R and FL-50R speedlights

A slim little camera with a fast-ish 28mm (equiv) is a nice setup for traditional street work. Anything above 35mm equivalent can get a bit tight if you like working in close and still getting full body shots, as I do.

I wouldn't say the kit 14mm lens is a downgrade from the 20mm, just different.

    Agreed.

Since I bought the E-5, I'm considering going more compact on the Micro-FourThirds body and lens complement to my SLR system ... My thoughts are to consider different things from the compact body now. I might trade my G1 body for a GF1, use it with the Lumix 20mm and occasionally the Cosmicar 12.5mm. The 14mm would be another good lens for this equipment scenario.

A GF2+14, keep the 20 and sell the rest of my mFT stuff, is another path in a similar direction.
