Thumbs up E-5 and Zuiko 12-60mm firmware 1.2

Firmware 1.2 for the Zuiko 12-60mm is supposed to make it work better with the E-5. I can say without hesitation that low-light focusing is improved noticeably with firmware v1.2.

Praise: The E-5 and 12-60mm really do work well together. I think back to my OM days and this one lens replaces the OM Zuikos 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm, and (almost) 135mm. That's eight lenses, and it performs better than any of them IMO. I never owned eight OM lenses at once, so I'm impressed what my Swiss Army Knife of lenses can do. As anyone who uses it knows, the Zuiko Digital 12-60mm is a gem.

I agree, the 12-60 is a gem of a lens; so versatile with excellent quality. I probably use it over 90% of the time, almost exclusively when I do portraits of individuals, couple or families on the beach.

I'm wondering about something that isn't quite related to this thread, but maybe someone will have some input. If with the E-5 you do an AF adjust on the 12-60, will that impact how it then might focus on the E-3?

Just guessing here, but AFAIK the AF adjust is stored in the E-5 by lens serial number -- nothing in the lens itself is changed, so there shouldn't be any effect on the E-3/12-60 combination.

Focus adjust, whether on the E-30, E-620, or E-5, is a camera adjustment only. Nothing in the lens is altered. Your lens remains itself on any other body.

You might need to adjust for the same lens on another body. For example, the lens might require a +5 adjustment on the E-5, but maybe a -2 on an E-620. It's all in the body.
