A friend of mine who designs and makes dresses asked me to take a few shots of her friend in the new collection.
Conditions weren't ideal as it was windy and the clothes were quite loose
Here are few shots from today, taken with E-M5.

They are all good, but the first on is, in my humble opinion, stunning.

Very nice series.
I recently did a shoot with a young lady who also designs and makes clothing who's name is Mayra.
My shots were studio on a white background. If you are interested, you can see 6 of the images here:

Hi Don,
I forgot to mention that she isn't a model, so we played around with some ideas.
These are just few of the lot. Next time we'll drop by the train station and do some more.
I processed the shots using my custom settings for Photoshop photo tools plugin.
This was fun for me to as you can learn a lot about lighting.
All but n3 were taken with little 45mm which is a fantastic lens.

Marin

Great pictures, love the natural poses, expressions and post processing.
Nice control of flash and back-light.

With all due respect Marin the reason I asked about your processing was because your white balance seems to be all over the place.
I hope I'm not out of line here, just thought you might like to know what I see on a calibrated monitor.

Np Don,
I never planned for all those images to have the same WB or color, most shifts are probably due to processing, but I don't mind it, it was never intended to be "WB correct" anyway.
Here are some more photos

Fantastic!
By the way, I too, set my white balance according to what look I want for some photos, more so than what is "correct". This is why I always shoot raw and change it in post. Often I'll have multiple difference processed versions of a photo, sometimes including different WB settings.

Okay
I understand the need for artistic expression but I'm old fashioned about my "skin" looking like skin, he, he..
Mind you that is difficult considering the coat of "paint" she's wearing <Big Grin>

These images are all excellent. The work in the images is superb. I like the variance in angles, and the non-traditional framing lends interest to the clothing and the images. For those of you interested in the white-balance issue, how do you address the issue? I'm sure that the OP shot these in autoWB, but as we can see that can be problematic given the color range and different lighting from shot to shot here. I agree that in this series it works, but it would be a disaster for a fashion magazine shoot layout.
How often to you manually set your WB to correct for lighting? Under what circumstances would you be compelled to do that?

For the WB, I'm using RAW, so I don't think there are problems with choosing whatever WB fits.
On some shots we used flashes with warm gels, so it would add a bit of warmth to the shots, because plain flash looks too sterile IMO.

My take on it is that real light changes all the time. Surely you know how skin looks different to our naked eyes during bright sunlight, clouds, and moonlight? Well, shouldn't images taken under varying conditions appear to have different skin tones (on the same person) as well? I always have the camera set to daylight, and change the raw WB as necessary if I'm going for a different look. My eyes see light as daylight. When I walk into someone else's house who is not using daylight bulbs (example, 2700k) I see nothing but orange, just how a camera does when it's set on daylight. I find daylight offers the most "true" representation of the colors under any given light.
