Included: All the original items (lens, front and back caps, hood, pouch, original box + warranty card, original receipt upon request

Condition: Mechanically as good as new. A few minor scratches on the lens cap from normal use.
Back lens element is clean. Front lens element has several small scratches on it that don't affect image quality. You can see the size and the location of the scratches in the attached images (not all the marks you see in the image are scratches - most are specks of dust that inevitably show up no matter how much you clean the lens on a large element like that). You can also see an image shot with the lens on an e-5 a couple of months ago and see that image quality is not affected by the scratches (you can also download the original ORF if you would like). Lens history: Bought new from B&H in April 2010. I am the only owner. I never use protective filters on my lenses and never had a problem with that; my five year old 50-200 is still clean. This lens is a different story. The front element sits very close to the edge of the filter thread, and the pinch cap protrudes inward; so it is super easy to scratch the front of the lens when replacing the cap and hit the edge of the lens with the back of the cap (as you can see in the pictures all the scratches are around the edge of the front element). How heavily used is this lens ? Daily/weekly/etc...

Basically I feel at some point a lens will require servicing and I'm wondering how close that time is

Also, could you try a little harder to provide a "clean" image of the lens ? (big grin)

I would like to know that the dust is on the outside.

Hi Don -

This lens was used weekly probably. I don't think it is close to servicing yet. There is no dust inside that I can see.

My main reason for being with the e system is its weatherproof characteristics so you can travel with them on hikes and climbs and not worry about moisture as much. On most trips the best combo is 11-22 and 50-200. Bringing a 14-35 is another 2 pounds; not feasible on most climbs so it rarely goes anywhere. I think the SHG lenses are really for studio work - they are phenomenal but unless you are a pro they are weight and cost prohibitive. So that's why I am letting it go.

I am at work but I will try to get a better shot of the front element when I am home tonight.
