Default 2012 Photo Of The Year Contest - Submit Nominations Here

    2012 Photo Of The Year

Another year has passed and although we haven't had photo contests in awhile, we are going to hold a Photo Of The Year contest/poll. So please nominate your favorite photo from 2012 (one that was posted on the 4/3 site in 2012) by posting it here in this thread or sending it anonymously to me via PM (private message) by the end of the day on Jan 31st.
Please be sure to include the username the photo belongs to and a link where we can find where it was posted.
    Maximum size: 1200x1200.

We will soon start having monthly photo contests as well, so stay tuned!

    Thank you,

    Ann

P.S. Anyone can nominate one of their own photos if they want to.
All the photos will be posted in a new thread for the poll.

Good to see you are running with this idea. Hope it injects some positivity into the forum.

As you know I would like to start the ball rolling by nominating John Nicklin's shot "Breaking Through" posted in photos on November 25th.

Not sure how this thread is supposed to work vis a vis linking to other people's photos? Hence I tried sending PM but have been getting error messages "forum not responding" (to both sending PM and posting thread) and then got an error message saying "AnnF" was set not to receive PMs? Message box full?

Oh darn. There's a problem with the PMs at the moment and I alerted Emily. I can't reply to or send any out, I didn't realize I can't receive, either. Thanks for letting me know!

Ok, I know where that photo is of John's.

    Thanks,

    Ann

I would go with the one John posted to start with. Others would be as good or even better with a bit of PS to remove the powerline.

If you want to keep this thread focussed on the pictures alone I would be happy for you to delete this post and our other intermediate posts leaving just the posts with pictures.

Clint raises an interesting question to which I would be minded to say no but I am just a minion.

I would say yes, because this is just a nomination process, we will then run a poll to decide the final winner, where you will only be able to vote once. Does everyone else agree?

It doesn't matter where the photo was posted on the site. I will include in my original post that anyone can nominate their own if they want to.

Hmm, maybe this year you should have a separate forum for those that wish to enter the photo of the year challenge, will be hard to go back and look at all the images in this forum for a hole year? or is there a secret way to just review all the photos like a gallery?

Yes, there will be a separate one and they will be collected as we go like it was done in the past. There is no easy way to see all the photos because many were posted as links.

I wish there were categories and then a vote for one. There are so many great contributions. But as my bias is for pictures that tell stories, I nominate this photo by Gillymaru:
