Lightbulb Your ideas for a new Tagline to include Micro Four/Thirds.

    Hi All,

We'd like you to share your ideas on a new tagline for the new site. We won't be changing the domain of the site, so the name will stay the same to keep them inline, but we would like to include a Tagline, like "A Site for all Regular and Micro Four/Thirds Enthusiasts" (suggested by JRM60).

Get your creative hats on and see what you can come up with.

    Cheers,
    Emily

Oh I really don't like being "regular", it makes micro 4/3 sound irregular.

How about "A Site for all Four/Thirds and Micro Four/Thirds Enthusiasts"

I like Johns suggestion, but this should of course be "The site for ..."

I'll revise my suggestion based on Tom's friendly amendment:

"The Site for all Four/Thirds and Micro Four/Thirds Enthusiasts"

Descriptive and to the point without being too wordy. I like that.

I too, like it simple and to the point.

The one suggestion I must make is to use official terminology and punctuation only. Such as what is used on Four Thirds. In their domain name they hyphenate, however on the website text they use a space between the "four" and "thirds". I don't know which is correct, but be sure to use the correct one.

Even my favorite abbreviation (mFT) is not official, and we should avoid use of that and of the "µ" symbol and any others in the title and forum branding.

I dont mind it, but I think for the sites sake it should be the other way around
"The Site for all Micro Four/Thirds and Four/Thirds Enthusiasts"
I wonder what people think of that ?

just to put it out there:
    The Site for m43 & 43rds
personally I usually use mFT and 43rds (since 43rumors appeared)
not sure why we need "The Site for" so 'consider' my final version:

    m43 & 43rds

I like this best, although I like it with the word "Site" too.

As far as having the words "The Forum/Site for," I think it reads better with them. I mean, yes we do know it's a forum or site, but I don't see the need to overly abbreviate it by removing the phrase.

As far as placing micro first, I understand the point (because m43 is becoming more prevalent), but just wording-wise hierarchically, I think four thirds should come first. No one will be confused.

I think we are at risk of 'design by committee'

as with country names which have turned names up like "The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia'
why didnt they just call it Macedonia ?

or "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"
    we know as the UK

remember when people discuss this forum on other parts of the net its name will inevitably be subjected to some form of shorthand, even if not by us

As a designer (design by committee, napkin sketches, or whatever you want to call it)...I'm used to it and it doesn't usually bother me...the admin will probably have the final say anyhow...I'm just glad they asked.

In a week or so, we will run a poll with 3 of the Taglines selected by the Admin and Moderator team. We select based on what we think will be best for the site and based on what has been the most discussed in this thread.

Thank you all for your input!

For the pedants amongst us the "British Isles", "United Kingdom" and "Great Britain" are of course geographically different. I live in all three without worrying too much about the differences though some of our colleagues over the Irish Sea can get more concerned about the very real differences. Photographically I only live in F/T land but am happy to rub shoulders with those in mF/T land. What about OM land where I used to live? Or Stylusland? Or ...

Thank you everyone for your input.

Before we close this thread, I would like to throw in one more suggestion.

"Everything Four Thirds - Four Thirds, Micro, cameras, lenses and more"

I will close this thread mid week and put up a poll for the community to vote on.
