    Default E-M5 file numbering

I want to assign a different letter to each of my E-M5 boddies. In the menu, there is a section called "edit filename". I can key in the ID but it will not appear in the exported file.

Any of you brainiacs got any ideas?

PS: Olympus said it can not be done but I think they are wrong.

You have me curious, but I don't have an answer at the moment, before poking around. Best I can offer is you can rename/number on import using either Aperture or Lightroom. Perhaps Viewer 2 has a similar capability?

    Cheers,

    Rick

Problem solved. I did the procedure without a card in the camera.....seems the card was interfering. Hmmmn.

Wierd, I'm sure I had a card in the camera when I set up my file naming. BTW, if I recall correctly, there are separate naming schemes for sRBG and AdobeRGB, perhaps you were editing the name for one color space while the camera was set to record to the other colorspace? (Manual p. 91 & p. 90)

My experience is it adds a P ahead of the number for sRGB, but retains the numbering sequence regrardless of color space.

This thread has me wanting to do some experiements; since I have four Oly bodies they have individually duplicated each other's file numbers. Hasn't bit me yet, but there's always a first time.

    Cheers,

    Rick
