    Default Osprey in Nest

    Taken with the E-5, 150/2.8 + 2X tc, hand-held, cropped.
Lots of red hay-bale twine in the nest.

That is one mean looking bird!
All that plastic crap makes me sick. You should see all the strangled birds on the cliffs on Helgoland! Sad and disgusting.

Great job as always, Ken! Interesting to see how they've woven the twine into the structure. As an aside, I don't think the baling twine is anywhere near the danger of fishing line and some other plastic products, but still a concern, for sure.

Thanks, gents. Agree with both of you. The oceans, too, are filled with plastic; in the Pacific Ocean, there's a floating "island" of the stuff that some estimate to be the size of Texas. Sad, indeed.

Well done, Ken! I don't see very many of them around here. Only seen one pair in the last five years.

Thanks, Mike. One of the very best webcams for wildlife that I've ever seen is set up on an Osprey nest in Maine. It has over five million views in the last few years. The light on it is great in the mornings. Use the full screen toggle. Here's the link.
