I use my Olympus 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ as the "do everything" lens on my Panasonic GX-7. I really like this combination.

This lens is longer than the 14-42mm kit lens for the GX7, but its length does not change with focus or zoom as these are "internal". The GX7 features in-body image stabilization, currently a unique feature in the Panasonic line and necessary to get the most out of this non-IS lens. I use the lens in its "manual zoom" mode most of the time, switching to "electronic zoom" only when remotely controlling the camera via WiFi.

The 12-50mm zoom gives me a little more tele and a lot more-wide angle than the 14-42mm kit lens - a great advantage for car shows and other "Walk about" shoots where I don't want to lug a lot of equipment. It plays well with the GX-7's in-body IS and tilting eye-level viewfinder for catatography, a favorite activity. It is also quite good for close-up shots of pistols and other small objects. When the tilting viewfinder or tilting screen prove difficult to view, WiFi and an iPad provide the ideal remote controls.

In my opinion, the Olympus 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ lens is a really nice piece of gear that makes my m4/3 camera quite flexible. I like it!

Here's one more shot - this one in Macro mode.
