    Default New website

I'm proud to announce that we have a new website!

I have been working on it on and off for several months. The website includes a complete database of all 4/3 and m4/3 cameras, as well as lenses. We have both new and old, from lenses such as the Olympus 12mm f/2 to the Olympus 70-300mm f/4-5.6.

I wanted to build a database of 4/3 and m4/3 lenses that would help people pick which lens they need, hopefully leading them to better pictures. There are two areas where I need your help!

In order to accomplish that, I would like to invite everyone here to post pictures they have taken with their lenses in their Lens sample image thread. All the images posted in the sample image threads will end up on that lens page, in that nice slideshow, for everyone to view. This way people can see real world samples of pictures taken with the lenses, instead of charts and sales pitches.

If you are using one of the lenses in this database, please do post a short review of what you think of it.

Together we can make this a truly useful resource for everyone!

    Thanks

PS: if you find any omissions in the database, or you notice any errors, please do post about them here so I can fix them.

    Thank You!

(saw a typo regarding the 300mm 2.8 zuiko, and its weight "3g / 0.1oz" would love to have such a light lens ;-) )

Looks like a great addition to the forum. I'll try to send some images soon, after next trip, which starts next week.

Thank you for pointing this out, turns out all the lenses weighing over a kilogram were wrongly rounded down to grams!

Nice job on the database and website. I found one manual-focus lens which is missing:

Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC for m43 mount.

Thank you for pointing that out. I've decided to leave out manual focus lenses that were not specifically designed for m4/3 or even any other other mirrorless, but are just DSLR lenses with a changed lens mount. Maybe someday I'll add them on a separate chart, as I don't think they are useful for regular m4/3 users.

You may be right, but B&H and Adorama are now selling a model with m4/3 mount, and the reviews have been good. Flickr has at least one group for the lens, and there seem to be a lot of images from Oly users and a few from Panny shooters there. Based on the reviews and other research, I purchased one because my budget couldn't handle a Zuiko 75mm right now.

Tests are good, so far. The bokeh is smooth, and you can get an extremely shallow DOF at f/1.4. With only manual focus, focusing at that aperture can be tricky. However, I am using focus peaking on my E-M1 to assist with that. The lens does not communicate EXIF data to the E-M1, so that's a deficiency, too. However, I am enjoying working with manual focus, and I'll get by without the 75mm a while longer.

    Here's a sample:

    Cameras: E-M1 Mark II, PEN-F. Lenses: Oly 8mm f1.8 Fisheye PRO, Lumix 12mm f1.4, Oly 17mm f1.8, Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95, Oly 25mm f1.2 PRO, Oly 50mm f2 Macro (4/3), Sigma 56mm f1.4, Oly 75mm f1.8, Oly 9-18mm f4-5.6 (4/3), Oly 12-100mm f4 PRO, Oly 75-300mm f4.8-6.7 II

OK, you've convinced me, I'll add these to the database under manual lenses!
