I just got the 300/4 Pro and MC-14. Wow! What a great lens!

This thing is so sharp it hurts my brand new eyes! Just got a pair of new lenses. Great!

    Congrats - pictures look excellent.

I have been pondering buying one myself, alas, it's quite the purchase!

Sure is. Took me a year to decide to take the plunge.

Had it out in the field in Hungary over the weekend. Not much to shoot. Everyone has moved on I guess. Couple of conclusions, or should I say, first impressions: not always good at focusing on birds flying in front of trees etc. Often likes the background better. Busy backgrounds are quite busy, maybe the price you pay for such sharpness. A little selective bluring in LR helps.

    Dan,

Congratulations and the photos you posted are, indeed, sharp. Going to keep the Canon 400/5.6 now?

    Hi John,
No, I think the Canon and the Metabones adapter will have to make room on the shelf. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
This lens is just so good!

The feather detail captured is amazing!

Yes, I agree. Feather detail is always the Achilles heel of wildlife photography, I think.
