Default E5 dynamic single target AF mode

I am going through the e5 manual trying to understand all of the things the e5 is capable of, and got to Dynamic single target AF mode. However when I delve into the menu system on my camera that feature is greyed out.
Any ideas as to what Iím doing wrong?

If I remember correctly the focus target must be set to multi target and not single focus target. Then the menu selection should not be grayed out.

if, for example, one of the focus points in the multi field can’t lock focus the next point picks it up.

If I go on to the menu on the lcd and select the focus point icon there are 3 options at the bottom, all 11 points, one point and 4 points. I cannot select the 4 points option.

Try the 11 point choice and see if it allows you to open the Dynamic Single Target menu item.
I have no idea why you can’t pick 4 point focus.

No luck yet. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but as it is a minor problem and doesn’t stop me taking photos I think I’ll ignore it.

You may try a full camera reset and start from scratch and see if it will come up.

This sounds like a good idea, especially as the face detect mode won't work either, but I don't know how to do a full reset and cannot find it online.
    Can you assist please?

Hold the MENU button and the +/- button together for a couple seconds until the reset menu pops up.

Second way: go to the camera #1 menu and select RESET/MYSET.

    That should do it.

Thanks but unfortunately the first method does not get me to the reset menu, and the second way doesn’t seem to do anything.
I might try to contact Olympus, but sending it off to them is out of the question. Not really a problem as the camera still seems to be functioning properly otherwise (fingers crossed).

The last ditch effort is to pull the battery for a week and drain the system and internal battery. That will reset it.

    Solved it!
    You have to go into:
    Menu-cogs-AF/MF-Set Home
There you can choose which AF size is available.
    Simple really

    Hi,
I'm a long-time member but seldom posted. My dynamic-single AF mode was too greyed out.
I went in to the menu system, selected the AF/MF and then the bottom pattern. Then I was able to access the dynamic-single AF mode.
    Hope this helps
